Semester 1 Round-Up 2018-19

By saints-ultimate, Jan 16 2019 04:01PM

A quick recap as we hurtle towards the second half of the year...

For the very first time, Saints won ALL THREE of the beginners events back in October - triumphing in both Edinburgh Beginners (for the 3rd time in 6 years) and Glasgow One Day (for the 4th time in a row!) and finishing joint 1st at Stirling Tune Up after the final was cancelled in bad weather.

Also for the first time anyone can remember, the indoor 1st teams qualified for ALL THREE indoor Nationals Division 1s, in Men's, Mixed and Women's. We then sent a team of freshers down to Mixed Nationals to get experience when our squad from qualifiers was largely unavailable, and they excelled themselves by competing well when up against the best the rest of the UK had to offer, even beating Glasgow in an exciting final game. Men's and Women's Indoor Nationals will both take place in February 2019 and preparations are underway, with everyone returning for January Preseason a week before term starts.

Once again, Saints have also stepped up to represent their country, with both Aidan Steer (GB Mixed U24) and Jack Lynch (Ireland Open U24) already selected to play in the WFDF U24 Championships in Germany this summer, while a number of other players, both male and female, are also trialling for GB U20s and U24s at the end of January.

Onwards and upwards!
